Understanding Lovespoons and The Weekend

If you really want to understand lovespoons go read Dave Western's latest blog post. If I am half as insightful and technically advanced as this man is before I kick the bucket, I'll die a happy man.

This weekend Colorado Springs is hosting Territory Days, the kickoff to the tourist season. I'm going to be demonstrating carving Santa Claus outside a store called Handmade Santas & More. That's the store that sells most of my Santa output. I would have posted a Santa Photo, but I don't have any on this computer, so I opted for old Wetfoot up there. In any case, it should be fun. I'll post some pictures if I can remember to take my camera with me. Probably won't have much time to work on the lovespoon.

Until next time, let the chips fly!

  3. Hi Bob
Thank you for the kind compliment! I'm going to need to make new door frames to fit my big, fat head through if you keep that up!
I was looking at your eagle on a previous post and wanted to congratulate you on it. Looks great!
How are you liking the Preferred Edge knives? I love mine and can't ever imagine using anything else. I've put about 30 gouges into storage and use 2 bent knives to carve twice as fast and with better detailing. Maybe Mike should build some new door frames too!
    Cheers
    Dave

  4. Thanks, Kari! (The check is in the mail.) ;)

Dave, I really like the Preferred Edge knives, but I'm afraid I'm going to wind up with more than just two. In fact, I've already got four, no, five, counting the unmounted blade I have! I keep finding new things to do with them that would be so much easier if I had a different profile in a different blade width.
